Inception of a yap sesh

A small step for a man, a giant leap for a person writing a blog - my first blog post. A friend of mine gave me the push I needed to start working on a post. Right now, I'm writing this one day before my exam while listening to the radio on a handheld receiver, which segues into the main topic of my blog in general, living a somewhat more grounded life by decentralizing my phone!

I've hated the power my phone has had over me for almost a decade. I tried multiple self-help techniques that youtubers recommended, but those didn't help. Over the past years, I have started a small collection of tools to replace my phone; a recent example would be the aforementioned radio receiver to leave my music curation in the hands of local broadcasts. I won't go too deep into my collection, that's a can of worms I'll leave for another day. But the purpose of this post is to start and document me training my discipline and dissociate from my phone a tool that, even during my most depressive moments, has been next to me. Taking my time from possibly working on my issues and letting me sit in the mess my mind was in while distracting me with short form content.

I'll end on a positive note though; I have been listening to tons of radio broadcasts, made a friend through email(!), playing Persona 4, and I've been trying out some new hobbies! Now I need to stop filling my free time with random youtube essays lol. I do like the trajectory my life has been going in after deleting social media and switching most software to FOSS. It's like my phone isn't screaming my name that loud anymore.

this MIGHT be weezer
